Keepsake Boxes and Double Frame Boxed Pairs are the combined artistry of Edward Dyas (Tasmania) and Gene Treanor (Western Australia)
Gene is the third generation of fine furniture makers in his family, and has more than forty five years experience as a woodworker.
Gene uses a wide variety of timber types, primarily using local species for the main part of the box, and often embellishing them with the use of exotic species, or special burls, in decorative panels and inlays.
The illustrated Keepsake Boxes, designed exclusively for Edward Dyas, are magnificently crafted in solid Western Australian Jarrah. Quality Western Australian made brass hinges and stays are used. Boxes are lined with Thai silk.
The unique ‘frame lid’ holds an original miniature oil painting on paper by Edward Dyas. The back of the lid is magnetically held so that the art may be replaced at any time in the future. The painting is set in a mat under clear glass.
Because of the nature of the timber grain no two boxes are identical. The Thai silk lining colour is chosen to compliment the painting.
These Keepsake Boxes are produced in very limited quantities because of the hundreds of hours spent on the art. They are truly collector’s items.
